TheActimCombi®HemoglobinTransferrinrapidtestisbasedonhighlyspecificantibodiesandsimultaneousdetectionoftwobiomarkers:humanhemoglobinandtransferrin.Hemoglobinindicatesbleedinginthelowergastrointestinaltract,whereastransferrinisastablemarkerforoccultbleedinginboththeupperandlowergastrointestinaltract.
Becausethetestisspecifictohumanhemoglobinandtransferrinonly,nodietaryrestrictionsconcerningredmeat,orvegetablesandfruitswithperoxideseactivity,arerequired.Asaresult,thetestcanbetakenatanytime.

HowtouseActimCombiHemoglobinTransferrin
Actim®CombiHemoglobinTransferrintestkitcontainsallnecessarymaterialsandcanbestoredatroomtemperature:2–30°C.
- Collectsample
OpentheSpecimenDilutionBuffertubeandtakesomefecesusingthesamplingstickattachedtothescrewcap.Twistthestickindifferentplacesinthefecessample.
Putthesamplingstickbackintothetubebypushingthesticktroughtheconeandclosethecaptightly.ShakethetubetosUSPendthespecimeninthebuffer.
- Perforation
Usethesharptipoftheperforatingdevice(dipstick)topuncturetheperforationareainthebottomofthebuffertubethenpushthedeviceintothetubeuntilthestopperpreventsitgoingfurther.
- Activatethetest
Slowlyinvertthetubeupsidedownonceandimmediatelyplacethetubeonthetableinanuprightposition.
Itisimportantthattheinvertingmovementisnottooabrupt,apeacefulinversionisvitalforthecorrectperformanceofthetest.Also,thetubemustnotremainupsidedown.
- Interpretresults
Theresultcanbeinterpretedaspositiveassoonasonebluelineoroneredandorbothblueandredlines,andoneblacklinebecomevisibleintheresultarea.If,inadditiontotheblackcontrollineyousee:Onebluelineinthelowerpartoftheresultarea,theresultishemoglobinpositive.Oneredlineinthemiddlepartoftheresultarea,theresultistransferrinpositive.Onebluelineandoneredlineintheresultarea,theresultishemoglobinandtransferrinpositive.
Thenegativeresultshouldbereadat10minutes:noblueorredlinesintheresultarea.
